JOINING THE TEACHING PRACTICE AFTER A SHORT BREAK.
The fourth semester began with renewed enthusiasm and anticipation. Our first day back at the school on January 9th started, as always, at 9:30 AM with a collective prayer. It was refreshing to be back in the familiar environment after a gap of nearly One and half months.
The day began with a slight change in plans, as the headmaster, whom we were supposed to meet in the morning, was on half-day leave. Consequently, we decided to settle in and waited until the afternoon to meet him. During the morning hours, we focused on organizing ourselves, reconnecting with fellow trainees, and ensuring that we had a clear understanding of the portions for our respective classes.
I had a substitution during the 3rd period in class 9A, where I chose to focus on building rapport with the students rather than diving directly into the syllabus. It felt important to reconnect with them after the long break. We had a light-hearted discussion about how their Christmas exams went, their holiday experiences, and their plans for the new year. Instead of introducing new topics, I revised previously taught concepts and distributed notes to refresh their memory. This informal session was a great way to ease back into the teaching process and gauge their current level of understanding.
The afternoon was busy with my duty near the office during the lunch break. It was wonderful to meet my old students, have conversations, and collect feedback about their learning experiences so far. These informal interactions often reveal valuable insights that help me refine my teaching approach.
By 1:30 PM, I headed back to college to attend a Theo-pedagogue talk by PremKumar sir. The session was insightful, offering new perspectives and strategies that will undoubtedly help enhance my teaching during this phase.
Overall, the day was about settling back into the rhythm of teaching, reconnecting with students and colleagues, and preparing for the challenges ahead. As the semester progresses, I look forward to bringing my best efforts to the classroom and creating a meaningful learning experience for my students.
